Xiaomi Mi A2 review
Xiaomi Mi A2 review Google’s Android One program was brought to the emerging market so that the user had the experience of stock Android at affordable prices. However, after the start of Karbonn, Micromax and Spice, no other company is affiliated with this program. Google again tried to revive the Android One program in 2017. Then in the last year, Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review) was brought to India.
Since then many companies have become part of Google’s Android One program. But some of them have their own products in the Indian market. The Nokia brand’s smartphone maker HMD Global announced that all its Android smartphones will be part of the Android One program. All phones of the Nokia brand launched in the Mobile World Congress 2018 have been brought in the Indian market. Now Xiaomi has introduced upgraded Mi A2 to its first Android One smartphone Xiaomi Mi A1. This stock comes with better hardware than Android. Those who want pure Android experience should buy Xiaomi Mi A2 only? We have tried to find an answer to this question.
Xiaomi Mi A2 design
Xiaomi Mi A2 is the best design smartphone. It comes with metal unibody and gives a feeling of premium in hands. The first major change is seen in the display compared to the Xiaomi Mi A1. The handset has a 5.99-inch 18: 9 aspect ratios display. For this reason, the phone appears to be long and thin. The edges are curved and for this reason, there is a good grip in the hands. The black variant of the review comes with a matte finish. Fingerprints do not fall on this easily. But the phone slips easily in hands and we suggest to our readers the use of the cover given in the retail box. Xiaomi Mi A2 review
Power and volume buttons are on the right side Their response is excellent. We found that the position of the power button is good, but the volume buttons are slightly above our preferences. Xiaomi has given the selfie camera, earpiece, selfie light and notification light above the display. The part below the display is empty. One colour notification LED is given in the smartphone. At the bottom is the USB Type-C port. There are speaker grills on both sides, but there is a loudspeaker in the right-hand corner. IR matter is also present on the phone, with the help of which the phone can be used as a remote control. It has a place with a secondary microphone on top. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, the USB Type-C Dongle has been given in the box. Xiaomi claims that he has used superior quality amplifiers so that the sound of the speaker and the headphones is a good sound.
Xiaomi has a dual camera setup on the back side, in a vertical position. On the back side, there is a 12-megapixel primary camera, a 20-megapixel secondary lens and a LED flash. The camera is the bulge. Because of this, the phone remains on the flat surface. The fingerprint sensor has got a place next to the camera module. Xiaomi has given a 3000 mAh battery in the A2. Xiaomi Mi A2 specification, software and feature
The Chinese smartphone maker has used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor in Mi A2. Adreno 512 GPU is integrated with it. Xiaomi Mi A2 offers 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Regrettably, the MicroSD card is not a slot, i.e. you have to compromise with the phone’s storage only. This dual sim smartphone has space for two nano SIM slots. Both have support for 4G and VOLTE on SIM.
5.99-inch display is full-HD + resolution. Its pixel density is 403 pixels per inch. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has been used for protection. Viewing angles are fine, but the display is not very bright. You will not be able to control the output too. Ambient Display feature activates the phone when it comes to notification feature.
The battery capacity of the phone is 3000 mAh, which is smaller than the rest of the phone in this price segment. For example, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (review) comes with a large battery of 4000 mAh. Xiaomi Mi A2 has Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ support. But you will get a 10-watt standard charger in the retail box. Xiaomi Mi A2’s connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and Baidu. Xiaomi Mi A2 review
Xiaomi has focused on the camera of Mi A2. On the back side is a 12-megapixel primary camera with F / 1.75 archer. The secondary camera is 20 megapixels and it also has an aperture F / 1.75. Remember that the secondary camera in Mi A1 had a zoom lens for 2x optical zoom. But Shawmoi A2 will give good performance in low light.
Xiaomi Mi A2 stock runs on Android 8.1 Orio The company has given its Feedback, File Manager and Me Drop app in it. Feedback app cannot be disabled or uninstalled, but the remaining two apps can be removed from the handset. The camera app is also customized by Xiaomi. This is different from the default Android app. This phone already has Google Apps installed When we started reviewing the phone, it was equipped with June’s security patches. But during the review, it got an update, after which the phone was equipped with the security patches of August. Xiaomi Mi A2 review
If you want pure Android then I would love the A2 software experience. There is an app drawer in it. You can see all the installed apps by swiping up. You can get Google Feed by swiping right on the home screen. Google Assistant can be activated by pressing the Home button for a long time. We found that there is no app available to use the IR ammeter on the phone. This means that the handset can not be used as an out-of-box remote control. You can do this by downloading the Remote app from the Play Store. Shawomi told Gadgets 360 that he will bring the update, after which I will have the remote app already installed in this phone. The camera app can be activated when pressing the power button twice in Mi A2.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Performance and Battery Life
We have used the Nokia 7 Plus and it comes with the same processor Xiaomi Mi A2. Nokia’s phone also runs on stock Android. Xiaomi Mi A2 also has a similar performance. We did not have any problems with the use of multitasking or phone UI. 4 GB RAM will prove to be great for common use. The fingerprint sensor is fast and fast unlocks the phone. Xiaomi Mi A2 review
We played games like PUBG, Clash Royal and Asphalt 9 on the phone. PUBG runs in the Medium settings in the default. We did not complain about the performance. We played this game for about 25 minutes. During this time it was found that the phone was hot, but not too much. Asphalt 9 runs without any lag or trouble
In our HD Video Loop Test, the phone of Shyomi’s phone has been given 8 hours 13 minutes, which is less than the average. In our review, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 gave up to 16 hours, although they come with big batteries. Active Whatsapp and Gmail account, nearly hours of gaming, some time on Instagram and some phone calls, battery saver mode became active after about 7 hours and 30 minutes. If your user behaviour is similar then do not forget to keep the charger together. The charger provided with the retail box takes around 2 hours to fully charge the handset. In this case, we suggest that you use the charger coming with Qualcomm Quick Charging support.
Xiaomi Mi A2 camera
Xiaomi has worked on this phone’s camera app and this stock is different from the Android camera app. You will find shot video, portrait, squares, panorama and a manual mode. Users in manual mode will be able to control White Balance, Focus, shutter speed and ISO. During this time users can also choose between regular and low light lenses. Xiaomi claims that it has made some such changes in portrait mode that it uses a 12-megapixel camera with enough light and a 20-megapixel secondary camera becomes active when low light. But we found that this does not happen. When a lens is used in use, the second depth works as a sensor.
Mi A2 locks focus by detecting light very fast. Photos taken with the Mi A2 in the outdoor come with a lot of detail and colors are also accurate. Even after zooming in, you will be able to see the details in the picture and Noyez is not too much. We also found that the camera app automatically switches to HDR mode when needed. Autofocus is faster when taking a macros shot. We found that A2 is capable of focusing on very small objects too. Macros shot came Sharp. The phone showed a clear distinction between the subject and the background.
Mi A2 boosts the ISO and lowers shutter speed in low light so that instead of using the secondary camera, the primary camera can capture more light. We believe that Xiaomi should have used the secondary given for better photography in low light. But you can do so by going to manual mode. These photos also got pictures with detail, but we found that acute noise reduction has been done in the dark area, due to which the watercolour effect comes in to zoom in.
Selfies also come with the details. Sharp came in the pictures in Indoor. SELF FILLING lights prove to be extremely effective in low light conditions. HDR Selfie is also available for the camera and if it is needed, it gets activated automatically. You can decide the level of sufferation according to you.
In Xiaomi Mi A2 you will be able to record 4K video from the primary camera and up to 1080 pixels from self-camera. You will have the option of shooting a video of 1080 pixel resolution at a rate of 60 frames per second with a primary camera. But we found that the camera was struggling to lock the focus in a much more frame-rate. Video stabilization is available for the rear camera.
For the stock Android experience in the budget range, Xiaomi Mi A1 (review) is always the first choice. However, the situation has changed. Especially after bringing Nokia Android One phones through HMD Global. In such a situation, Xiaomi will have to take special care of the price and the company has done something similar with the new launch.
Xiaomi Mi A2’s cameras are superb. It is one of the best camera phones in this price range. Apart from this, the Powerful Snapdragon 660 processor has been a part of the more expensive phones. In such a situation, customers who want a strong performance in the budget price will surely entice this phone.
The price of Xiaomi Mi A2 is Rs 16,999. Looking at the hardware, this is a very aggressive price. However, there are some drawbacks to Xiaomi Mi A2. Battery capacity is lower than average. For this reason, we get a weak battery life. Xiaomi has left 3.5mm headphone jack and there is no slot for MicroSD card. The buyers look very carefully at both of these aspects. If you want stock Android and the camera also wants to be strong, Mi A2 is made for you. If you do not have any problem with the MUI, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is still a better option and its price is also low. We suggest you keep an eye on Honor Play.
